ABOUT ROBERT FRITZ

Robert Fritz is an accomplished composer, filmmaker, and writer, and he is also an organizational consultant for some of the largest companies in the world. He began his career playing music professionally and earned his BM and MM in composition from the Boston Conservatory of Music. In the process of studying and teaching musical composition, he began to see that the structural principles that are so much a part of the composer’s art have profound importance when applied to human development. It is from these insights that his structural approach was born.

At the same time, Robert began to see that the very same process that creators use to create music, painting, sculpture, dance, drama, film, poetry and literature could be applied to the way people live their daily lives, that it is possible to approach the life building process in exactly the same way – as if it were a work of art. He went on to develop his first course to teach people to use the creative process in their lives and later began to train instructors in his approach. Since then, more than 80,000 people throughout the world have taken trainings developed by him including the Creating Your Life course, which was created in partnership with his son Ivan Fritz.

What is special about this course is that it accomplishes something well beyond goal setting and forming good productive habits. It changes your orientation by changing the underlying structures of your life. This is not a small matter. Applying a structural approach to business, he he co-founded Innovation Associates with Charlie Keifer, Peter Senge and Peter Stroh, a company dedicated to helping people build organizations using principles of the creative process.

As a business consultant known for his pioneering work in structural dynamics and the creative process, Fritz has worked with Fortune 500 companies, nonprofit organizations, governmental agencies, and educational institutions across the globe to align organizational structures with strategic visions.

One such organization, The Uganda Rural Development and Training Programme, which initiatives include the URDT Girls School, URDT Institute for Vocational Training and Youth Leadership, and the African Rural University, adopted his visionary approach as its fundamental operating principle. In 2009, URDT won recognition for its programmes from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation for Changemakers “Cultivating Innovation: Solutions for Rural Communities.” Fritz’s work with the URDT is highlighted in his documentary The Uganda Project.

His books on structural dynamics in organizations draw on his pioneering work with Blue Shield of California, La France, Harvard Vanguard, IBM China, and Ortynsky Automotive among others.

A true classic, it details how a person can utilize the creative process and the knowledge of structure to create their life according to their highest aspirations and deepest goals.  Eight books have followed, including Creating,The Path of Least Resistance for Managers, The Managerial Moment of Truth (written with Bruce Bodaken), Your Life As Art, Identity (written with Dr. Wayne Scott Andersen), and his latest book is The Path of Least Resistance for Artists .
