Robert Fritz’s new film, Soul and Science: The Music of Kenny Werner, about the legendary jazz great has been receiving awards at various film festivals after its world premier at the Latches Theater in Brattleboro, VT.

Robert says the following: “Kenny is what is sometimes called ‘a musician’s musician.’ Most people in the music world know him, or know of him, and have been influenced by his music and teachings. There were no significant films about Kenny, and this was part of my motivation to create this documentary. I structured the film in distinct chapters, with full performances of the Kenny Werner Trio, with Tony Award-winner Betty Buckley, and with jazz legend Toots Thielemans. Together, the guests who appear in the film have won over 25 Grammy Awards. These are some of the most renowned artists in the music world, who were excited to talk about the impact that Kenny has had on their art. This film is also about Kenny’s life and thoughts about art and performance, which is a great story and unique exploration into the creative process.” Check out the award-winning film below:
